Advance Registration Only: $15 per player. Pay at site.

Section:  

Beginner: Players rated  < 1100 CFC or unrated, with less than 2 years of tournament experience;                

Intermediate: Players rated  <  1500 or unrated, who have played on school teams or tournaments for 2+ years;

Championship: Players rated 1500+ or unrated, who have tournament  experience and compete with stronger players;

Prizes:         For every 5 participants, 1 player will receive a fully paid entry to the Ontario High School Chess Championship, a thirty-five dollar value.

                  Automatic free ribbon / chess champion button prizes for all participants.

Schedule:    Check In 9:00 am –  9:30 am

                        Round 1 9:30 am – 11:00am

                        Round 2 11:05 am – 12:35 pm

                        Lunch 12:35 pm –  1:35 pm

                        Round 3 1:35 pm – 3:05 pm

                        Round 4 3:10 pm – 4:40 pm

                        Round 5 4:45 pm – 6:15 pm

                        Closing 6:15 pm – 6:30 pm­

Equipment:  SETS, BOARDS, AND CLOCKS ARE PROVIDED!  Many thanks to the Ontario Chess Association!  

            We’ll be selling chess sets and clocks, and other merchandise at location. There will also be pizza and pop on sale for lunch at 12:15 PM

The Ontario High School Chess Championship 2008 (Fri May 9 – Sun May 11)  will be held at  University of Toronto, Mississuaga. A highway coach service will be available from Toronto.

Students in Grades 7 and 8 (“Junior High School”) are most welcome.

Students in Grades 1 through 6, who can compete with older players, are also welcome.

Students may stay in the university residence; some students and parents stay in nearby hotels.

In addition to Individual Prizes, the tournament offers Team Prizes and Combined Team Prizes:

A team consists of the top 3 players from a school in one section;

A combined team consists of  3  players: the top player in each section from the same school.
