T.S.S.C.L. TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP 2009

We very much appreciate the kindness of the Toronto District School Board, which assists with the cost of the trophies, and the Principal of Stephen Leacock CI, which is providing space for this event.

Events: Senior Team Championship AND Junior Team Championship [Junior: under 16 - gr 7-10]

Entries: [each team consists of 5 players] [maximum of 12 teams in each tournament]
                1. The top 2 teams [both Senior and Junior] from each sub-region [determined by March 30]
                2. The top 2 teams from Peel Region, York Region, and Durham Region [both Senior and Junior] are invited [also determined by March 30]
                3. For the Junior Championship, the top three teams from both the TDSB and TCDSB Elementary Championships are invited.
                4. If space exists, other school teams are invited to take part

It is expected that all teams participating will be known by the MARCH 30. The crosstables will be posted on our website [ http://ca.geocities.com/high.school.chess@rogers.com/ ]

NO ON-SITE REGISTRATIONS! DEADLINE: Fri Mar 27, 2009

Entry Fees:
            1. Each sub-region pays $50 from its league funds for its 2 teams in each tournament [$100 total]
            2. Each surrounding region pays the same.
            3. For teams from TDSB and TCDSB Elementary Championships, payment of the fee ($25 each) will be arranged through the convenors and staff advisors.
            4. Other teams [not in the league or not winning in their region] pay $40.

Rating: the tournament will be CFC-rated.

Format: Each tournament will be a four-round Team Swiss.

Time Control: game in 55 minutes [each player] [set chess clocks to 5:04]

Equipment: SETS, BOARDS, AND CLOCKS ARE PROVIDED! Many thanks to the Ontario Chess Association!

Start: Please arrive between 8:30 and 8:45 so that the tournaments can start promptly at 9:00 am.
Times:       1. 9:00 - 10:50
                    2.10:50 - 12:40
                    Lunch 12:40 - 1:20 [Cafeteria service is available]
                    3. 1:20 - 3:10
                    4. 3:10 - 5:00
                    Awards: 5:10 pm.
PRIZES: 1 , 2 , 3 : Chess Clock plus Trophies [Permanent trophy to Champions for 1 year]
PLUS: Entry fee for each player to the Ontario High School CC *

Parking is available in the South Parking Lot: enter off Bay Mills Blvd (1st light north of Sheppard Ave E; turn west, then right into parking lot)
Walk north to the south doors of the school; continue straight ahead, through the doors past the main office; take the stairs to the second floor; turn right; continue down the hall (turns leftward) to the Upper Staff Lounge.
By transit: take the Birchmount 17 bus from Warden Station or south from 14th Ave.

Enter the main doors of the school on Birchmount Rd; continue straight ahead; take the stairs on your right to the
second floor; turn right and walk a short way down the hall to the Upper Staff Lounge.
