Compared with Edmonton 2009

Would-be entrants are comparing these class prizes to the 2009 Canadian Open in Edmonton, which was extraordinary in attracting many top rank GMs with not very high Open prizes, when there could be more and higher class prizes. This time, accelerated rounds gives lower rated players a much bigger chance at the Open prizes, so the class prizes are still reasonable. As well, there are many more Ladies, Seniors and Juniors prizes this time, and category prizes (Biggest Upset, Best Dressed...).
