Brentwood Library is seeking the possibility of running a chess club

in

Brentwood Library, a branch of the Toronto Public Library System, is in the process of putting together its Fall programme line up. They are looking into the possibility of running a chess club at Brentwood. They are looking for an chess instructor to lead the programme and teach the participants how to play the game of chess. They are intending to offer this programme to children/youth who are 10-15 years of age. They would like to run the chess club on Tuesday's at 4pm starting October 7 and ending November 25 for a total of 8 weeks.

Would any chess friends be interested in assisting the library with this programme? Please contact Jennifer Lio, who is Teen Services Librarian in the Brentwood District Library.

Good thinking

I like the idea of offering this to our youth - a great game to build minds and a way to have fun while learning. Howie Hubler Howie Hubler Howie Hubler

There will be a number of

There will be a number of Percy Priest teams coached by PPE parents and volunteers. If you played last year, you should contact last year's coach and teammates to make sure that the team is planning to play together again. If you did not play last season or are seeking to join a PPE team, ask among your student's classmates and parents to find who might be coaching and to see if they have any room on their roster for a new player. If you know the coach, simply list that coach when you register. If you do not find a coach, make sure to identify your child as a PPE student and request other PPE classmates for teammates. WNSL will work with the PPE coaches and Tracy Powell to put our PPE kids together as much as possible.

North York Central Library

One Sunday I have noticed players (4) playing chess (without clocks) at North York Central Library. (that day I was too busy to come and talk with players if they started regular meetings.) I should mention that the library will be closed on Sundays during summer, so check a schedule in advance if you would like to come and play :)

North York Central Library

Hi, I play chess at NY Central library almost whenever I get a chance. I would like to know of any players who might be interested in meeting up on a regular basis. I also know some other people who like the game. By the way, soon I would like to join the Willowdale chess club. If there are anyone interested in playing this beautiful game anywhere close to Yonge and Finch or Yonge and Sheppard, drop me a line and we'll set up a time. I'll be looking forward to hearing from you here.

HUMBERWOOD LIBRARY

Humberwood Library would LOVE to find someone who could help to run a chess club for youth. Wednesday or Friday after school both work for us, and we would also like to start in the fall. Humberwood is between Rexdale Boulevard and Finch, and between the Humber River and Highway 427. If you are interested, I'd love to talk with you. Please contact me at vcanning@torontopubliclibrary.ca or at 416-394-5027.
