  • To promote interest and participation in chess at all levels for the purpose of increasing the popularity of the game.
  • To co-ordinate and harmonize chess activities in the league area.
  • To be the sanctioning and administrative body for the annual organization of the GTCL events.

Eligibility: Provincial Champions, Titled players (FM, IM, GM), players rated 2200 or above.
Winner qualifies to 2009 World Cup in Khanty Mansiysk, 2nd and 3rd place finishers qualify to 2011 Continental Chamnpionship.
Time Control: 40/90, G/30 plus 30 second Fischer increment from first move
