THE BAYVIEW GAMES CLUB PRESENTS  (A GTCL event):

The TORONTO JUNIOR & BANTAM

CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2007

September 16 to November 4

 

This will be a two section round-robin event with eight players in each.

The Junior section will comprise of the 8 highest rated players born in 1988 or later.

The Bantam section will comprise of the 8 highest rated players born in 1994 or later.

A reserve section will be formed in each section if entries warrant  (6 or more).

The deadline for entries will be 7pm Wednesday, September 12 at the BGC where the draw for position will take place.

Schedule: Games will be played on consecutive Sundays at 3 pm with no games scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend (October 7). 

The Bayview Games Club is open 7 days per week, so individual games may be rescheduled by agreement of both players and upon notification of the TD.

 

The Junior will be both CFC and FIDE rated. The Bantam will be CFC rated only.

The Bantam section will also be used as a qualifying event for the CYCC which

will lead to a spot in the WYCC.

Rating fees will be paid by the GTCL. CFC membership is required.

 

Time control: 90 minutes for 40 moves and 15 minutes for the rest of the game                         with 30 seconds increment from the first move.

 

ENTRY FEE: $60 payable by 7pm, September 12.

TIME CONTROL: Game/120

ROUNDS: 11 AM & 4 PM daily

ENTRY FEE: $76 ($55 for prize fund + $21 administration fee).  

BGC will pay $21 administration fee for all its members.
 Late fee on day of tournament $10 extra.

Entry payments can be made by phone using VISA or MASTERCARD

CFC RATED:
CFC membership or $10 tournament fee required.

PRIZES: based on entries
 ($55 from every entry, 5% to go to GTCL Grand Prix fund),
class prizes awarded according to turnout in rating groups.

for a full entry fee rebate ($55).
This will be awarded in cash at the end of the tournament.

HISTORY OF BLITZ CHAMPIONSHIP:

Blitz, speed, lightning, rapid transit history

The Ontario High School Chess Championship 2007
(Fri May 11 – Sun May 13)  will be held at Trent University, Peterborough. A highway coach service will be available from Toronto.

Students in Grades 7 and 8 (“Junior High School”) are most welcome.

Students in Grades 1 through 6, who can compete with older players, are also welcome.

Students stay in the university residence; some students and parents stay in nearby hotels.

In addition to Individual Prizes, the tournament offers Team Prizes and Combined Team Prizes:

A team consists of the top 3 players from a school in one section;

A combined team consists of  3  players: the top player in each section from the same school.
